English Classes

Are you interested in improving your general English language skills or do you want the English Language Skills you need to find a job?

Kangan Institute is offering the following courses from mid-March 2014:

General English

March- November: Wednesday, 6-8 and Sunday 1-3

You will learn:

  • The written and spoken language you need for everyday purposes (shopping, telephoning, dealing with teachers)
  • Reading forms and bills (Centrelink/ DIAC forms, telephone and gas bills)
  • General information about Australia

English for Jobseeking

March- November: Monday and Wednesday 6-8pm

You will learn:

  • Australian employer expectations- your rights and obligations as an employee- cultural expectations of the Australian workforce
  • About application processes (including processes for particular industries- Security, Protective Services Officer)
    • The written language you need to secure a job interview (form filling, CV writing, letter writing)
  • How to perform at a job interview, including role play
  • Information about work in the local Hume area (access to information about local vacancies)

These courses are open to permanent and temporary residents (including 457 and those on spouse visas). People on international student visas cannot participate.
Course commencement is dependent on numbers. Details about costs will be available shortly.
